Transfer pictures taken with your phones' camera to a computer

Buying that camera phone seemed like a good idea at the time, camera will give you the opportunity to capture and share moments forever that you'd normally forget.

1. Use e-mail
The problem with Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and picture messaging is that, for the most part, they work only within your carrier. In other words, if you have an AT&T phone, you can't send a picture message to your buddy who's on Verizon. After much foot-dragging, the carriers have just agreed to an MMS interoperability standard, but that won't help you for quite some time. If it turns out that your picture recipient uses a different carrier, he or she should receive a text message explaining how to view the photo online. If your intended recipient doesn't receive such a message or the receiving phone isn't MMS-compatible, simply use your phone to send the picture to your friend's traditional e-mail address. (Keep in mind that sending pictures in any manner costs money, either per message or as part of a data plan.)

You can also use e-mail to move pictures from your phone to a PC. Again, you'll have to subscribe to a data plan or pay per-message fees in order to do this, so this can be an expensive solution, especially if you're dealing with several pictures at a time.

2. Purchase a data cable and sync software
For moving pictures to your computer, there's nothing simpler or more cost effective than investing in a data cable and some synchronization software. It's a one-time fee, and it's much faster than e-mail.

3. Use a photo-messaging site
Some online services such as Kodak Mobile let you e-mail photos from your camera to the Web.
Sprint PCS, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile all feature very good sites for storing and sharing your camera phone images. Once you get your pictures to one of these sites, you can send them to any e-mail address. You can also select albums or individual images to share with others by sending an e-mail invitation.

4. Wireless connectivity
As with contact transfers, you may be able to transfer photos wirelessly as well. Memory-card transfers are also an option, depending on your phone.

Transfer contacts to your new cellphones

1. Make your carrier work for you
We know, it's a novel concept. But if you purchase a new phone through and your phone doesn't use a SIM card, you can go to one of your carrier's retail outlets and have a customer service agent transfer your contacts from your old phone to your new one. It may cost you, however, depending on your carrier.

2. Use syncing software
If for some reason your provider is unable to transfer your address book to the new phone, don't give in to that syncing feeling. You can purchase cables and data synchronization software that will do the trick. Your carrier or the phone's manufacturer may provide such tools for your handset. Otherwise, several third-party options are available.
FutureDial offers cables ($30 to $35) for a wide range of cell phones, and its SnapSync software ($30) automatically synchronizes contact information between your phone and Outlook or Outlook Express. But in this case, you'll probably need separate cables for both your old and new phones. DataPilot's Universal Kit ($80) and Mobile Action's Handset Manager (around $30), however, include cell phone sync software and connectors to support most popular cell phone brands, including Nokia. Check with the company to be sure your phones are supported.
If you use an Apple Macintosh and a GPRS Bluetooth-enabled phone, Apple's iSync will synchronize your contacts, appointments, and events. iSync is available as a free download from Apple.

3. Use online tools
Verizon Wireless recently introduced a new online service that eliminates the pain of moving your contact information. The Backup Assistant lets you store your address book online, so your contact information is readily available in case you purchase a new phone. This also is a good option in case your cell phone is lost or stolen. Backup Assistant is available at Verizon's Get It Now online store.
For $5 a month, Nextel offers an online service that lets you store up to 2,000 contacts with multiple addresses and phone numbers. You can import contact information to the site from Outlook, Excel, or your Nextel phone. Once all the information you need is online, you can transfer contacts to your new phone with ease.
An alternative comes from a start-up company called Vazu. It offers a free tool called Vazu Contacts, which lets you upload contact information from Outlook, Outlook Express, Apple Mail, or Novell Evolution directly to your. You receive contact information as a business card, which you can immediately add to your address book. Currently, Vazu Contacts works only on GSM networks, so AT&T Wireless, Cingular, and T-Mobile customers with supported phones can enjoy the service. The company says it is exploring other networks and phone models.

4. Wireless connectivity
If both your old and new phones have Bluetooth or an infrared port, you may be able to transfer contacts wirelessly. Not all carriers support Bluetooth, however, so be sure to check if yours does. Alternatively, you can transfer files on a memory card.

Note: If both your old and new phones use a SIM card on which you've stored your contact information, you can stop reading right now and sleep soundly; you can just transfer your SIM card to the new phone.

Secure your phones' data

You can take steps to ensure your data is safe in the event your mobile falls into nefarious hands. Of course, you should start by assuming you will lose your phone at some point. With that in mind, don't store anything that you wouldn't want anyone else to see, including credit card numbers, bank account information, and other sensitive data. Also, be sure to use passwords to protect your phone book or the phone itself (this varies by handset). But remember that if you store anything on your carrier's servers, those files will be much more vulnerable to snoopers. Send E-mail with your phones

To e-mail directly from your cell phone:

1. Go to the picture gallery and select a picture to send.
2. Click options, then click Send.
3. If you previously saved the contact information, select the address from the phone book. Be sure to select the e-mail address from the contact information, not the phone number. Otherwise, you'll need to enter the e-mail address manually.
4. Insert a text message or an audio clip (optional).
5. Click Send.

Make your own ringtones

In this project, you need a voice recorder application on the phone.

Go to the main Menu and open the Media folder (or Office folder). Launch the Recorder application.

Just in case you want to transfer the recorded clips to your computer for further mixing, define the default storage device in the Recorder application. Open the Options menu and select Settings. If Memory Card is not selected as the Memory In Use, push the selection key to change the value to Memory Card.

Back in the main screen, highlight the red Record button. Push the selection key, and the recording will start. Hit the Stop key to end it.

Windows Mobile phone: Go to the Home screen and push the Start key. Locate the Voice Notes (Voice Recorder) application and open it. You may see an empty screen, but it means only that you haven't recorded anything yet.

When you are so close to the audio source that the phone microphone can pick up the sound, push the Record key. End the recording by hitting the Stop key.

Although you can record as long as there is memory space available, try to limit the recording to 10 to 60 seconds. Windows Mobile phones record audio in WAV format, which tends to result in large files. A long recording will take plenty of memory space, and your phone may not be able to play a lengthy tune anyway.

With the Voice Recorder on the screen, open Options. Select Go To Gallery. All the recordings you have saved can be accessed from the Gallery. You should see a list of recorded tunes. Highlight a recording, open Options and choose "Set as ringing tone."

If your phone menu doesn't show the Set As Ringtone choice at all, you have to set it manually. Go to the Home screen, push Start, and open File Manager. You have to move the recording from the folder /Storage/My Documents/Notes to the folder /Storage/Application Data/Sounds. Then, go to the Start menu and launch Settings. Select Sounds, open Ring Tone, and pick up the recorded ring tone.

Reviews of N76

The Design:

Trims available with the N76 are apparently aimed at the fashion conscious audience – these are the classic black and so popular among women red.

As a matter of fact, the company has managed to squeeze the hardware of the N76 into a casing only 13.7 mm deep, not due to cutting-edge alterations to the chassis; basically they have made it taller. Generally speaking Nokia 6290 is an exact replica of Nokia N76 – there aren’t many differences to dwell upon. While the 6290 measures 94x50x20.8 mm, the N76 presents us with 106.5x52x13.7 mm, meaning that it is a tad wider, almost 1 cm taller and all this for being reasonably thin.

The handset is easy to hold in hands with the clam closed and it does leave a very strong impression – after all, it is a feature-packed smartphone with a whole lot of attractiveness inside. But otherwise eye-candy phone lacks ease of use – trying to flip it open reveals that not everything is about sunshine and rainbows there. The flip action is somewhat clunky due to the hinge lack auto-spring mechanism, so that the clam freezes half way up, and that is not all – the casing’s width and design don’t allow for opening the handset single-handedly, so you always end up using both hands.

Another newsworthy drawback is glossy finishing of the casing, along with the mirror-like surface of the front plate. The phone collects much gunk within the very first minutes of playing around with it, so rubbing down is something you should get ready to do regularly. Because of the mirror-finished framing the external display seems to be a tad dimmer than that found on Nokia 6290.

The left side houses microSD memory cards socket, covered by a drop-out flap – even though it looks splendid and promises no issues with getting to the socket itself, taking out the card is not always convenient, as your hands aren’t likely to fit in the tiny space around the socket. Next to the memory expansion slot is charger socket, which is an altogether strange design.

The dedicated camera button sits on the right, as well as gallery shortcut key, similar to those found on senior Nseries models. Volume rocker switch, doubling as zoom in/out button while shooting, accompanies the above controls on the right side.

On the top end you will find a rubber-flap-covered miniUSB slot, as well as the power button and 3.5 mm audio jack. The N76 comes included with the HS-43 headset, which is different from the HS-42 found in the box with Nokia 5300, however this difference regards the jack they link up to – the former utilizes 3.5 mm, while the latter gadget asks for 2.5 mm.

The bottom rim is occupied by the speaker playing back ring tones and engaging when handsfree mode is activated.

Review of Nokia 7370

As a part of L'amour series Nokia 7370 is made of different materials: mat and gloss plastic, metal and leather all that with fabric label. The handsets are available in two color variants: gravel and dark brown. We dealt with the latter but both of them look gorgeously.
Due to small dimensions and rounded shape the phone is very handy to hold. It opens easily with the help of one hand only and in whole while working with the handset you will rarely need the second hand. The phone opens semi-automatically that is you are to rotate the upper part slightly and the spring will do the rest. The same goes for the reverse process. It should be noted that you can close the phone only in the reverse to opening direction that is the angle of the upper part rotating is 180 and in the upper point there is a stop.

What's special on Nokia 7370?

The Ok key is also blue and the outer part of the rear cover is trimmed with leather.

The case is quite resistant to scratches and it is not that easy to damage it. So the phone is quite beautiful and unusual and besides handy to use.




The keypad is large scaled and pleasant to touch. It is made of glossy plastics and becomes available once the rotator is opened. The numbers and letters are seen clearly both in darkness and in the daylight as the backlight is bright enough. The navigation is done with the help of 4 positioned navigation key, OK key and programmable soft keys. As for the additional buttons there are three of them: volume control, power, camera key.




The display is TFT with the resolution 240x320 pixels which is rarely high for Nokia. It supports 262K colors so the image is quite effective. Direct sunshine did not prevent us from reading even the smallest text on the screen.


The camera is 1.3Mp with 8x digital zoom and video shooting possibility.


Nokia 7370 has a new type battery BL-4B 700mAh.
On intensive use the battery drains on the third day, provided you talk 15-20 minutes, listen 1hour to radio per day the battery will drain only on the fourth day.

Pluses:

Minuses:
- Small memory capacity

Conclusions and impressions:
The phone is intended mainly for ladies but unlike some other models it does not have shimmering mirrors, pastes and glamour labels which is one of its merits for not all like pathos and shimmering. Besides Nokia 7370 has its special charm.
